God of War: Ragnarök Environment (Fan Made)

This semester, I took an environmental art class at the University of Utah where we had to fully build a 3D environment from a piece of 2D concept art. I chose to do Grÿla's House from God of War: Ragnarök. The concept art is by Norris Lin. You can check out his work here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/QXzxnE

This was a huge jump in scope for me. In the past, I've mainly created 3D models and done a little bit of texturing. This class pushed me to use both of those skills but also put them together and create an environment. Additionally, I learned how to do procedural modeling using Houdini. I took a deeper dive in to the Unreal Engine and learned how light and render an environment.

Working on this project for the past few weeks was super fun and I was able to hone my skills a bit more. Everything in the environment, aside from a few assets (firewood, scoop, hay, debris) was modeled and textured by me. The pots are procedurally modeled in Houdini and use an index to choose the texture. I learned how to set up a NIagra system for the fire and dust particles and these two elements add a lot of great ambiance to the scene.

I want to thank the University of Utah, specifically Ryan Brown, who really pushed me to do my best work on this artwork. I'm really excited and proud of this final project.
